PRINT & PATTERN - design scholarship competition and magazine interview

the second issue of surface design magazine 'moyo' is out now and features details of the second print & pattern scholarship and an interview with myself. the scholarship offers one lucky designer a free place on the "art & business of surface design" e-course worth around £600 ($1000) and all you need to do is submit one of your current pattern designs. the winner of the scholarship will win a full place on all three modules beginning on april 29th 2013. all the details of how to submit can be found online in the free digital magazine moyo (see page 18). please note : there is no fee payable to enter and you will retain all rights relating to your images. applicants can be from any country and last years winner simi gauba is also interviewed in the latest issue of moyo so you can see how the prize has helped her career.

DESIGNER - suzanne lefebvre

suzanne lefebvre is both a print, graphic, and interior designer based in upstate new york. suzanne is a recent graduate of the rochester institute of technology where she studied both interior and graphic design and was a recent winner of the 2012 Surtex Designext student competition. although she is a recent grad, suzanne is not your typical student...after spending close to 10 years developing and sourcing textiles for the apparel industry, she decided to leave the corporate world and go back to school at 35. now working for herself suzanne designs anything from textiles and floor coverings to corporate interiors and environmental graphics to complement them. you can see more of her work online here.






DESIGNER - karla pruitt

karla pruitt is a surface designer based in athens, GA, who recently created her first licensed wallpaper collection with hygge & west . working main for the home and apparel markets. karla has designed patterns for clients such as ralph lauren, JC penney, kmart, home depot, and target. you can see more of paula's designs online here and she is represented by next day art, and is always interested in new licensing opportunities.








DESIGNER - joy simpson

joy simpson trained in fine art painting but found she wasreally into printed textiles and stationery and therefore wanted to do some of her own designs. based in york in the uk joy hopes to take on some projects or commissions and would welcome visitors to her online portfolio blog here.

DESIGNER - jen moules

jen moules is a surface pattern designer and illustrator who specialises in textile home wares, wallpapers and greeting cards. originally from somerset jen now works from her studio in hampshire and draws inspiration from the surroundings. jen has a passion for nature and wildlife which is reflected in both her textile designs and illustrative work. she creates her products using a range of design methods including screen printing by hand, digital manipulation and embroidery techniques.

below: for their free downloadable calendar this year mibo have teamed up with artist sean hennessy. mibo spotted Sean's work at a gallery in brighton last year and were immediately smitten with his illustrations of the animals of the chinese zodiac.
